Mekong Delta

sunny 25 °C

Stubbornly perhaps, rather than opting for an organised tour into the delta area we thought we would carry on independently. This was a mistake as irregular busses and complicated changes meant that going it alone actually took longer and cost us more. Still, we met two old cronies in the local bus station who tried to help us and even sold us snacks and drinks without adding the customary tourist tax.

We stayed on one of the smaller islands with a family who prepared us a traditional meal of Elephant Ear fish. We took a sunrise cruise the next morning to see some of the floating markets, a local sweet making factory and an orchard.
